Nicolai Reedtz is a professional 26 years old Danish shooter who didn’t expect to become well-known in cyberspace when he noticed Counter-Strike for the first time. Reedtz played under several nicknames: devve, devveking, Sundevice, and then took a simple one – «dev1ce». He felt interested in this word when he was loading his desktop. Despite the young age, Nicolai is considered to be the most universal and skilled gamer. He succeeded both in a group and on his own.

Nicolai Reedtz. Biography of a worthy Danish gamer
Reedz brought many advantages to his bands and won in single tournaments that provoked several beneficial proposals. Though dev1ce is a cool shooter, there is no guarantee he’ll stay in any team for a long time. Nicolai participates in multi-gaming communities for several months and then leaves. This character feature isn’t favourable for a gamer. Perhaps, he searches for perfection as Reedtz once said that he has never thought to be a star player. Instead, he planned to establish the most powerful team.
First experience and fame
As it usually happens, Nicolai was watching his sibling playing Counter-Strike Source and wished to join the game. He demonstrated intelligence not only in shooting but mastering. Nicolai was a young boy but already trained his friends by showing better ways of interaction in CS. Dev1ce was – 8 years old when he offered his schoolmates to go to an internet club. According to Nicolai’s interview, he wasn’t interested in video games but subscribed to them for boredom. In 2004 familiars asked him for the gaming consultations and called to check their desktops for cheats. Dev1ce struggled with a difficult task when he was a teen. He realized he had a natural talent for Counter-Strike, but simultaneously he attended a stadium and was at the high level of badminton.
When local coaches invited Nicolai to play in the National Badminton Team, he used a knee trauma as an argument for refusal. In 2019 Nicolai confessed he couldn’t choose the right path but soon recognized Counter-Strike was his vocation.
In 2009 dev1ce played Source but didn’t get any privileges. When he explored Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, the situation changed to a positive side. Nicolai obtained invitations from cyberspace organizations, including the most prestigious of the region – Copenhagen Wolves. In 2011 a 15 years old teen was at the top of Danish shooters. As he hesitated to make an accurate choice between badminton and gaming, he was kicked by Copenhagen Wolves as the manager demanded full-time occupation from dev1ce.

Later the Danish group would regret its emotional outburst and call dev1ce back in January 2013. The team would mention dev1ce wasn’t engaged in plenty of significant events, so he had to practice more to play well. Dev1ce’s retrieval led Copenhagen Wolves to a victory in an international tournament. Gossips proclaimed that in March 2013, Nicolai joined Heroic – a team that imposed fewer restrictions but in June 2013 came back to CPH Wolves. In 2014 Nicolai took 20th place in the Top 20 gamers, but in 2015, his popularity suddenly elevated not by occasion. Dev1ce elevated reputation at MLG X-Games Aspen 2015. He proved he had enough spirit to keep the whole match in the balance.
The reporter admired Nicolai, who was shooting excellently. Dev1ce took bronze and overcame Fnatic – a famous British band at the cosmopolitan CS:GO tournament in 2015. The Danish guy transformed his new band – Team Dignitas into the most promising multi-gaming community. However, on 29 January 2015, dev1ce replaced the current band for Team SoloMid. This decision surprised many fans as Nicolai’s things were getting well. He searched for a flush of fresh opportunities. As dev1ce promoted his group to the final against Team EnVyUs, his position soon rose from 20th to 3rd place.
In the same year, he played for TSM. Kinguin and received the world’s admiration – Nicolai finally reached gold at FACEIT 2015 Stage 2 Finals. He changed the match’s outcome in some seconds, till the end in time when his fellows didn’t hope for a victory. Astralis became the most suitable team for dev1ce as he displayed constancy and played there as long as he could – from January 2016 to April 2021. Nicolai expressed stability and brought a lot of rewards.

No wonder his career grew up. His rating jumped from 3rd to 5th and back on the list of the best gamers of the year. The event lasted – 5 years in a row! It’s certainly a great triumph for a modest Danish guy that earlier wasn’t sure in his cyberspace capacities.
On 23 April 2021, Ninjas in Pyjamas eventually received the talented player it aspired to cooperate with long ago. As dev1ce explained he just wanted to interact out of Stockholm, and his agreement with Astralis has passed. Seems that neither Astralis nor Nicolai were ego to prolong collaboration. Dev1ce doesn’t comment on his relationship status but as his social sites are full of gaming pics, he seems to be single and completely focused on further career promotion.
